The drying rack is sturdy enough to support the weight of the clothes mentioned. If you hang the jeans over each rung and not flat, there should be enough room for the sweaters.

The box was approximately 44" long X 27" wide and 6" in depth. Close to the size of the product and not wasted carton space. I hope this helps.
