We get all of our heirloom varieties of vegetables from careful seed saving, and as it turns out it is not difficult to do yourself. Lemons are just about everyone’s favorite, and the seeds from them are probably the easiest to save. You will be better off saving self-pollinating vegetables, so the cross-pollination process doesn’t get too involved. With a self-pollinating variety, your seed will come true next year with no problems. The other easy seeds to save are grapefruits, oranges, tangerines, clementines, and limes.
Materials You Will Need To Save Lemon Or Other Citrus Seeds: A lemon (or piece of another citrus fruit) A small paring knife A paper towel A small plastic bag A piece of masking tape A pen A spray bottle (filled with water) Directions:

Then, you will place the peeled seeds, which are folded up in the wet paper towel, into a plastic bag and place them in a cool dark place for a few weeks. When the seeds start to sprout you will plant them in rich potting soil.
